SATEC: Power & Quality

Where Excellence Drives Precision and Innovation

SATEC Inc. is one of New York’s most widely specified providers of electric submetering systems. Our three-tier energy approach delivers a complete solution for end users.

We provide revenue-grade hardware for complex metering requirements, field services to support successful installation and commissioning, and the ExpertPower energy monitoring and billing platform for end users. SATEC meters can also collect pulse data from water and gas meters for remote reading and billing.

Our retrofit capabilities set SATEC apart. When replacing an obsolete legacy meter, SATEC can provide an adapter bracket designed to fit the existing panel cutout, avoiding the need to replace an entire section of the distribution panel.

Founded in 1987, SATEC is a recognized leader in power metering and power quality analysis. As one of the early pioneers in digital power metering, we have continued to focus on innovation and practical solutions for utilities, industrial facilities, and commercial applications worldwide.

For more than 35 years, customers have relied on SATEC for both standard and customized telemetry and energy management solutions. SATEC designs, develops, and manufactures its full range of hardware and software in-house.

Quality, Reliability and Durability

Quality is the foundation of reliability. Reliable performance depends on durable hardware and consistent operation.

For more than 35 years, SATEC solutions have evolved to meet the demanding requirements of utilities and customers worldwide. Our products are designed for harsh operating environments, maintaining reliable performance at temperatures ranging from −40°C to 70°C. They also offer surge protection of up to 12 kV and can operate in humidity levels of up to 98%.

Customers choose SATEC systems for their long-term reliability. Features such as galvanically isolated power inputs help protect equipment, while robust communication ports support dependable operation during electrical disturbances. High-speed communications also enable fast and reliable data transfer.

Modularity

SATEC’s modular approach allows customers to select the functionality they need while maintaining the flexibility to expand in the future. Our hardware and software platforms can be configured with a wide range of optional features, communication ports, and upgrade capabilities—helping optimize performance and cost for each application.

All-in-One Functionality

Thanks to this modular design, a single SATEC device can support multiple functions. For example, a power quality analyzer can also operate as a fault recorder, phasor measurement unit compliant with IEEE C37.118, bay controller, or transducer, depending on the selected configuration.

This multifunctional approach supports more efficient, flexible, and cost-effective substation design.

Connectivity

Modern substations and industrial facilities rely on real-time monitoring and rapid response. This requires advanced SCADA systems, reliable communication infrastructure, and seamless device connectivity.

SATEC devices support a wide range of hardware interfaces and communication protocols, enabling flexible integration across different systems and applications.

Fast, reliable communication is essential for real-time operation. Our products are designed to deliver dependable performance and rapid response times.

Accuracy

Accurate measurement is essential for effective power monitoring. SATEC’s One-CT concept helps reduce the additional measurement error associated with external current transformers by using integrated remote High Accuracy Current Sensors (HACS).

SATEC devices are also designed to meet the requirements of IEC 61557-12:2018 for power metering and monitoring devices, while providing accuracy beyond the standard requirements of IEC 62053-22 for active energy metering.

Power Quality Analysis

Power quality analysis is at the core of many SATEC instruments and a key area of our expertise. SATEC offers equipment certified to Class A in accordance with IEC 61000-4-30, Edition 3 (2015), supporting accurate and reliable power quality monitoring and analysis.

Substation Power Monitoring

SATEC power meters are widely used for statistical metering and SCADA-based monitoring and control in high-voltage and medium-voltage substations.

With advanced I/O capabilities and flexible communication options, SATEC meters can also function as compact remote terminal units (RTUs) for a wide range of substation applications.

Industrial Power Metering & Energy Management

Today’s industrial sector is increasingly focused on energy optimization and reducing its carbon footprint. Accurate, real-time power metering is a key component of a modern and efficient power system.

Monitoring power and energy consumption not only helps reduce energy costs, but also provides valuable insight into the condition of manufacturing infrastructure. It supports early detection of system failures and overloads, helping prevent equipment damage, production losses, and unplanned shutdowns.

Commercial Revenue Metering

SATEC meters offer accuracy classes of up to 0.2S/0.5S, in accordance with IEC 62053-22, supporting the requirements of commercial and revenue metering applications.

With multichannel metering options, UL- and MID-certified models, and a dedicated SaaS billing platform, SATEC provides flexible solutions for property managers and operators of residential and commercial buildings.
